Last year I spent a night in Shibu Onsen and did snow monkey park. I LOVED the scenery of the snow monkey park/Nagano area.
I’m planning on going back to Japan in October but I’m torn on how long to spend in the Nagano area/where to stay.
I’m a fairly chill traveler and I’m generally willing to experience anything new. I do enjoy nature walks but can’t do extreme uphill hiking.
Kamikochi, Narai-juku, Atera Valley, Kakizore Gorge are both on my list of things to see. Would I be better off staying a few nights in Matsumoto area and doing day trips to the surrounding areas (I’m not sure if Atera Valley and Kakizore Gorge can be done as day trips from Matsumoto).
