9 days of mostly hiking in Late March

Hello 🙂 I am backpacking in Japan for 9 days and would really appreciate it if someone could give me some feedback on my itinerary. I am worried it is too much. Do you guys think it would be too much to do both nakasendo (nagoya) and kumano kodo (osaka)? Should I focus on less areas? It's my first time in Japan. I am used to international travel.

My priority is to do the Nakahechi trail of the Kumado Kodo. Nakasendo would be great to do, but I'm willing to drop it if my itinerary is too cramped.. I'll be bringing cold condition clothing and sleeping in ryokans. I usually start my days early like 6am, so I often have a lot of time in the day to do stuff.

Day 1 – (arrive in Narita 10am) – Shinjuku/Shibuya area

//take train to shibuya//

– meiji temple

– yoyogi park

– Sleep in Shinjuku

Day 2 – Tokyo

//take train to east tokyo//

– Imperial palace

– Akihabara

– Sleep in Shibuya

Day 3 – Mitaka

//take train to Mitaka//

– Ghibi Museum

– Hiker's Depot

– Climb at Rock Climbing Cafe

//take train to Nagoya//

– Sleep in Nagoya

Day 4 – Nagoya/Gifu/Nakasendo

– Hike Magome Juku to Tsumago Juku

– Go back and sleep in Nagoya

Day 5 – Osaka

//take train to Osaka//

– Osaka Castle

//Take bus to Tanabe//

-Sleep in Tanabe

Day 6 – Nakahechi (Start)

– Start Kumano Kodo

– Hike from Visitor Center to Chikatsuyu (15km)

– Sleep at Nakahechiyo Chikatsuyu

Day 7 – Nakahechi (Mid)

– Hike Nakahechiyo Chikatsuyu to Hongu (22km)

– Sleep at Hongu

Day 8 – Nakahechi (End)

– Take boat ride from Hongu to Shingu

– Train back to Narita

– Sleep in Narita

Day 9

– Relax and take flight home
