Hi all! I just came back from a 9 day trip from Tokyo. I wanted to share my hotel experiences since I don’t see them reviewed often.
For the first half of my trip, I stayed at the Sotetsu Fresa Inn Nihombashi-Kayabacho. The hotel is a minute walk from the Kayabacho station. It was so easy to get onto the trains to head to Shibuya, Shinjuku, Ginza, Tsukiji Fish Market, and Tokyo Disneyland. It’s away from most tourist areas and closer to business areas so it’s a super quiet neighborhood. The room was a typical size for a Japanese hotel room. You can’t control the AC/heat so I did end up leaving the window open cause I liked it colder. They had many free hygienic amenities, which I appreciated. The included breakfast was decent. The coin laundry was easy to use and clean. I was able to wash and dry 5 days of clothes and it was 600 yen. Overall, I definitely recommend this area and hotel.
At the end of my trip, I stayed at the Hotel Villa Fontaine Otemachi. It was a 7 minute walk from the Kanda Station. It is across a 7/11, which was very convenient. I stayed in a double twin room and was pretty normal for a Japanese hotel room. You can add breakfast but it’s around 1,500 yen for some pastries and coffee. You’re able to control the AC/heat, which was helpful for me who likes the room cold. You need your room key to keep all lights and heat on and they don’t provide a proxy card to keep them on while you’re out of the room. When they come to clean your room, they do not make the bed but only pick up trash and change towels. Overall, I think I would skip this hotel location next time. But otherwise, it was a decent budget hotel.
