Is Hakone worth it if we don’t intend to do the loop?

Wife and I are going on our honeymoon later this year and have 2 nights budgeted to go somewhere between our stays in Tokyo and Kyoto. I’ve heard Hakone is beautiful so we currently have a ryokan booked near Hakone Yumoto station for 2 nights. After doing some research about the area and the Hakone loop experience being super crowded and a pain transportation wise, we’re not sure that is the best move as we’re looking for simplicity in the transportation area since this is our first time in Japan. We definitely want some nature so an alternative I found would be taking a bus and spending that 2nd day in Hakone going on a hike up Mt. Kintoki. Anyways I’m wondering if anyone thinks Hakone-Yumoto is worth visiting if we don’t intend to do the loops. Also if anyone has alternative locations to possibly spend those two nights somewhere generally located between Tokyo and Kyoto please let me know. Appreciate the help here!
