Hey everyone,
I’ve been following the news globally, and it seems like the tech sector (and others) is getting hit hard with layoffs in the US, Europe, and India. However, here in Japan, I barely hear anything about mass redundancies.
I’m curious about the actual "boots on the ground" situation:
-
IT/Tech: Are any of you in Tokyo/Osaka seeing "voluntary retirement" (kibo taishoku) packages or quiet restructuring?
-
Other Industries: How are the manufacturing or service sectors holding up?
-
Hiring: Is it actually getting harder to switch jobs, or is the "labor shortage" still the dominant reality?
It feels like Japan is in a bubble where labor laws or the aging population are keeping things stable, but I’d love to know if I'm just missing the red flags.
Are you or your company experiencing any shifts?
