Quick question about leaving and re-entry as a student

Briefly: I’m considering leaving for a few weeks in March. My status expires in June. My school told me we would start the renewal process soon. Realistically, would this trip interfere with that? I wouldn’t return until three months before my status expires.

I’ve heard that these renewals are much quicker than an initial visa, in which case I’d have nothing to worry about. But I wanna hear from someone who actually did it and can confirm that.
