Best coffee shops in Tokyo?

I’m always on the hunt for good coffee shops around Tokyo, both in the city and a bit further out, and I’d love some recommendations.

I’m pretty open to anything – good coffee obviously, but also places with cool aesthetics, friendly staff, interesting spaces, or just a really nice vibe to hang out for a bit.

Could be well-known spots or smaller local cafés you randomly discovered and keep going back to.

If there are any places you really rate or think are worth checking out, I’d love to hear about them ☕️

  1. Check out mermaid coffee rosters. Keep going back here. I also like %arabica at azabudai hills.

  2. Overday Coffee – nice little neighbourhood coffee shop with chill vibes & excellent coffee.

  3. Lol this is like asking for best pizza in nyc, best pho in Hanoi, best boba in Taipei…

  4. “Coffee Swamp” in Nishi-Shinjuku and “Andoh Coffee” in Kichijoji are my personal favorites (I prefer espresso drinks usually). “ou” in Hamdayama is also wonderful – their hojicha latte is something else!

  5. Nico’s coffee in Hatagaya near the station. “Australian style”. It’s amazing.

  6. A not very well known one, as only tourists go to Kappabashi (or so I heard).
This place seems to be part of another company, seemingly a design company, so there’s lots of interesting bits and bobs on the way to the toilet upstairs.

Absolutely no complaints with the coffee and general ambience.
