I’m thinking about buying a used car soon, as the 車検 on my current car (Nissan Note) expires in March. Considering getting a “kei” (yellow plate) car because I heard they’re cheaper to run (gas mileage, tires, etc) and the insurance and taxes are cheaper. Any advice on what maker I should go with? As I drive around town now I notice lots of Suzuki and Daihatsu yellow plate cars. Is that because they’re cheaper than the big 3 makers? Or are they actually better at making them than Toyota, Honda, and Nissan? Would appreciate any insights you may have.
