Has anyone used the example sentences from Kanshudo? A lot of them feel strange in my opinion. Can anyone vouch for their reliability?
Can someone help explain ちゅう vs 内に when trying to use it as “during”?
Hello! I’m working on the Genki 2 Chapter 21 (back of the book) and I came across these 3 sentences that I’m struggling with their grammar.
1. ほかの日本人をうらやましいと思ったことはありませんでした。
For this sentence I was wondering why は is used over が. Is it due to compare and contrast? As in the speaker is implying he does not have jealously over other Japanese people, but other people might? And I was wondering why is there an を in front うらやましい? I assume its just formatting right? Is the を for 思った?
2) びっくりして何が起こったのかわかりませんでした。
For this sentence, I’m confused about the の behind 何が起こった. Why is there a の there? What is it doing? In Genki we learned this grammar point already, but it taught us to write those grammar points like this: Example: きのう何を食べたか覚えていません, which has no の.
3) 「どうしてどろぼうは私のアバートに入ったんだろう。どうしてお金持ちの日本人のアパートに入らなかったんだろう。」と思ってしまいました。
For this sentence, I’m confused by the だろう. Since its a question, why did the writer use a period over a question mark behind だろう? I know だろう is probably but what is it doing to the sentences here?
Thank you so much in advance for your help! I appreciate it so much. 😀
In several Japanese song lyrics, I’ve noticed that **目指す (mezasu)** is often used without the object marker **を (wo)**, even though it is a transitive verb. For example:
* 傷つかない場所目指して (*Yumesekai*)
* ここからずっと 遠い場所目指し (*The Girls Are Alright!*)
* 知らない場所目指そう (*Jikan ga Tomatte Ongaku ga Hajimaru*)
Does omitting **を** in these cases change the meaning or the nuance of the sentence? Furthermore, is this omission of **を** unique to **目指す** in lyrics, or is it a common pattern for other transitive verbs as well?

Why “Na” instead of “No” or “Wa” here?
数ヶ月前までは痴性しか感じられなかった瞳にだ。確固たる意志と、輝かんばかりの知性がだ。
どうすればいいのか。知識はあれども経験の薄いリーリャには、判断が難しい。
1. How is this phrase 「確固たる」? Is it read as a whole or broken into 「確固」「たる」? I tried searching for ~たる but the explanation does not seem to fit the sentence for me unless I’m misunderstanding something.
2. Why is 「かん」in 「輝かん」used here? What is the grammar of this 「かん」?
3. What is the grammar of「あれども」?
Thank you.
Need suggestions on which gaming console to buy to play games on it. I have used only GBC in the past and I enjoyed Pokemon Gold in it. There are a lot of second hand consoles being sold at decent prices here in Book off/Hard off.
Edit – I am considering GBA
Anything similar to yomininja for Android that you can use inside games or over non mokuro-ed images?
I found this old app called Kaku but I couldnt figure out how to make it stop screen recording once it started without uninstalling and the OCR quality is what you would expect from an 8 year old app
