Hi all,
First time to Okinawa, lived on Honshu for a year many moons ago and look forward to returning to Japan. I would like to come to the region but am suprised how hard it is to figure out the other surrounding islands and which is most appropriate for a visit. I will have 9 days total, was thinking 5 in Okinawa and 4 elsewhere. I will be in my second trimester so am not going to do anything crazy but want to prioritize culture, snorkeling, and trekking or jungle adventures, etc. I am not a just sit on the beach person, I don't want to go somewhere super touristy…I just want to be back in Japanese culture and snorkel/enjoy nature. Any tips on other islands to check out? Alternative is to do 5 days in Okinawa, hope to get culture and snorkling there and spend the rest of my days in Honshu.
