First time in Akihabara but can’t seem to notice the maids are like “dead inside”

Hey all

I just got to akibahabara the other day and I just can’t seem to notice that the maids seem a little dead inside or maybe it’s just or the weather is cold right now about 16 C. Are the maids really smiley just like a marketing thing? Works hours just crazy long? It’s just something I noticed walking around the street
