Hi,
I searched the board but didn’t find something that applied to my exact situation.
Situation: I am on my first one-year spousal visa after a 5-year working visa. I quit my Japan job in November and did not inform immigration. I joined 国民保健 and pension and have been making my payments on time. I legitimately forgot informing immigration was something I was supposed to do. It’s my fault and I am admitting that.
I am submitting my renewal for a spousal visa soon. I am only unemployed in Japan, in that my new employer is based in America and I get paid in USD. I plan on reporting this income to Japan and doing the necessary tax work.
Question: what do I need to do when submitting my spousal renewal form? I noticed on the form itself it just asks for “occupation”, but I assume they will check official records and see that I’m on the national health insurance which would raise a flag. I would also need to inform them that I do not have a Japanese employer as of November, but I am unsure whether or not I need to do this before submitting the application or as some sort of explanatory note with the application. (I realize I am legally required to report within 2 weeks and I am way overdue, I am just trying to see if this can or should be done in one trip to immigration)
Thank you for any help.
