Google's Japanese keyboard's handwritten kanji recognition is extremely useful. Stroke order doesn't matter, stroke count doesn't matter, it can pretty much recognize the kanji you're drawing from scribbles.
Check if your phone has a handwriting Japanese keyboard, and give it a try!
The steps for my phone were:
* Hold down the space bar
* Click "Language Settings"
* Click "Add Keyboard"
* Select "日本語"
* Select the "手書き" option
