Anki deck doesn’t help as much as it probably should

I feel a bit frustrated bc I litteraly can’t learn anything from 2k set. Okay, maybe 1-2 simple words from 20-30 that’s provided, but that’s all.

Slowly moving towards N5 (about 7 months into studying it from scratch), and only words I actually can learn is the ones I either learn from kanji book that goes specifically through words with the same kanji and the ones I use at my lessons constantly to the point they are in my subconscious memory. Is it normal?

Asking bc I see all across the internet bragging about their insane progress in way lesser time by using Anki lol.
