Currently, there is nobody on the roster out of the new generation ready to dethrone Tsuji. There are no true top heels other than Jake, who Tsuji just ran through. Putting a title on an already established guy at this point would be a mistake, so someone new needs to get built up. A one-year title run where Tsuji fends off several challengers will be a good way to establish him as the dominant top guy until someone else gets momentum.
My prediction is that during this run Tsuji will defend the IWGP against all 3 of his major rivals; Shota Umino as the winner of NJ Cup, Narita as the Fall challenger, and finally he'll drop the title to Yuya at Wrestle Kingdom 21. In the meantime, I could see Goto or Zack get a shot, as well as a dark horse pick like Taichi or maybe even Shingo.
