Should i even bother applying for MEXT?

Do I stand any chance to get the scholarship?

Hello everyone!

I'm a student from Romania and I'm considering applying for a MEXT scholarship.

My issue is: I'm not a great, olimpic level student, my grades are average at best with an about 7.5/10 or 3.0gpa/4.0.

I'm not asking what my exact chances are cause no one can know that, what I'm asking for is some advice and how things turned out for other candidates that were in my situation.

Has any of you got in with similar grades?

I did improve recently but it's too late to significantly improve my grades.

Therefore, assuming I have like, the best possible study plan, a great essay and great everything else, would I stand a chance?

Is it even worth putting time and effort into it?

Yes I did also ask about it in the MEXT subreddit but no one seems to answer so I thought I should ask here too.
