Across most European and other G20 countries there’s a growing movement to limit/ban social media access for underage kids.
Personally as a late millennial that never got into Insta, FB, Tiktok, etc, Im all for it as I dont intend to even give my future kids a smart phone until university and personally find Social medias addictiveness and impact in warping peoples perspectives incredibly disturbing but wondering if others think such a movement would take place in Japan (maybe not considering how Takaichi used SNS to gather the young and dumb vote)
Were mostly non-voters as expats/foreigners here but would definitely support such a movement myself.
Edit: I see many saying it should be parents that control SNS usage. To those I say this then why does government ban underage drinking, drugs in general, underage smoking.
We didnt always ban those but sensible people saw that these things had addictive or bad impacts on young people and those around them and put a stop to it.
SNS is just as bad, just as addictive, warps reality and is a leading cause of underage suicide. So why is alcohol ok but SNS is not. The truth is there is no difference. Ban addictive algorithmic SNS
