Hi everyone!
I just completed my HSP visa application, waiting for the COE approval. I have 80 points so hoping everything goes through without an issue.
I’ll be moving to Yokohama with my wife and daughter (2). We’ve been doing research of the area, the lifestyle and what to expect, but obviously it’s not the same as actually asking people that have lived there.
What can we expect when we first move to Japan (or Yokohama, specifically)? What are some things we have to lookout for, figure out fast or prepare before we go? How child-friendly is everything?
Weve both been doing some Japanese lessons to get the basics and plan on joining a language school as soon as we find our rental. We’ve been to Japan before for 3 weeks, but obviously visiting and living are two very different things. Ive lived abroad in six different countries, but my wife has never lived outside of the US. I want to give us the best chance to succeed and adapt quickly.
Any help would be awesome, thank you!

Just be mindful of the crazy COE delays at immigration currently. I was told in person in Japan that my COE would be approved within 3-5 months. It’s now been almost 8 months and still nothing. Life is on hold.
