First of all, sorry if the flair doesn’t fully apply – I was struggling to figure out which one worked best
I’m currently in the process of returning to Australia after living in Japan for studies – a major part of this process is shipping my stuff home. I recently went to Japan post to ship 3 boxes via boat, however I’ve got some concerns now
On the day, my order was completed last due to the previous person taking quite a while. This meant my order went a little past closing time, making things pretty rushed and hectic overall. I think this led to the main issue occurring.
I created 3 shipping labels through the website but couldn’t print them myself due to some options I had ticked – I noticed that when they printed them though, they printed the label for box A twice. What this ended up meaning was that the first and last box both had the shipping label for box A. Box B was fine, box C I’m very worried about though. I tried pointing this out many times, but even with google translate it was very difficult to communicate this properly. I FINALLY managed to point it out at the end, but by this point I think they just wanted the process completed. They mentioned that as long as the contents of box C are similar to box A it should be fine, which they technically are, but it’s still overall different. I’m also concerned because if both box A and C share the same shipping data, tracking for them individually is impossible. I’m afraid this will result in either one or both of them being lost or sent back. Box B also had to be opened to remove a battery I forgot about, meaning it isn’t really perfectly sealed anymore, but that shouldn’t effect any of the shipping now anyway.
To make matters worse, when I apply the codes for any of the 3 boxes in the international tracking window (even box B which SHOULD have 0 issues), nothing shows up. I know that it may have just not been updated yet, but even the Japan post support line said that seems strange considering I went into the post office on the 12th (it’s now the 17th).
Now, I’m currently out of country to organise stuff to return home meaning I have little to no way to contact them. I likely won’t be returning at any point within the shipping window of these packages. Their only contact options are phone, fax, or walk-in. Phone is unavailable internationally and obviously I can’t walk-in. I even attempted to communicate via fax but as you can imagine they didn’t really respond to that. Does anyone have any advice on what I should do in this situation? Has anyone had a similar experience that ended up fine? Is this a normal amount of time for a small post office in Japan?
Overall I’m just very concerned about my items as I really don’t want to lose them over such a minor clerical error. Thanks for the help guys, hoping for the best.
