Foreign license conversion test

I just passed the 50 question written test for license conversion at the Fuchu Driving Test Center and wanted to share the resources I used.

  1. I bought the Rules of the Road book from JAF https://english.jaf.or.jp/driving-in-japan/rules-of-the-road and studied it to learn the rules of the road.
  2. I downloaded the Karihomen app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sankyusoft.jpdriverlicense to take practice tests for license conversion. Honestly I didn't realize it had a license conversion test section at first and was just taking the karimen tests. Either way was very helpful to better get a sense for the way questions are asked.

Read the book. Take the practice tests over and over.

The test itself I took was comprised of around 12 picture sign recognition questions and then 38 text only questions. Even though you're probably studying for just for an AT ordinary vehicle license, don't skip the moped, truck, and motorcycle information sections in the study materials. You'll need to know about these vehicles as well, as questions may come up about them.

Good luck friends!
