TL;DR: This is an advice-seeking post regarding if I should study MBA or find a job and come to Japan.
I know that this question might have been asked a lot along the way, but I would appreciate if anyone could provide me with some useful insights bc I’ve been so stagnant lately.
As a simple introduction, I’m a 24 y/o from a Southeast Asian country, with nearly 2 years of work experience (no management or leading experience whatsoever, I’m just a normal staff). I have decent language proficiency (N1 & IELTS 8.0) and academic background here in my country, and with all the supporting conditions, I’m thinking of applying for graduate programs in Japan.
Masters by research is not my cup of tea and also not my strength, and research is not my long-term goal, so after lots of contemplation I’ve been thinking of enrolling into MBA programs since I would love to hone my management skills. However, many people in my country and even an alumni from my Japanese dream school said that I’m still kinda too “young and inexperienced” for MBA programs, and if I study MBA without clarity in mind that’d just be a waste of time and money, and that got on my mind a lot lately. (FYI my dream school is Hitotsubashi)
Is it true that I should not apply for MBA study right now? My goal is to get a Masters degree and be able to land a job and reside in Japan for a period of time (how long may depend on my compatibility with the country). I’m even considering the MiM program at NUCB if I’m still too inexperienced for the MBA.
If you ask why Japan, the reason is not from an economical point of view, but mostly out of my love and interest for the country.
Any advices on should I try to apply for MBA programs, or should I just find a job in Japan from my country and jump straight into it? I would appreciate any suggestions and comments from you all.
