Before coming to Japan, I was looking for the answer to this specific situation, but was unable to track it down, so I thought I would share:
It was made clear to me that you need cash to refill a suica card, but I had been wondering if it was possible make the intial Welcome Suica purchase with a Capital One Venture credit card at Haneda airport.
The answer is yes you can.
I purchased 4 Welcome Suicas in total from the kiosk where I was able to do the process in English. Two were kids' cards and I just needed to enter their dates of birth as verification.
It was super easy and the people working at tourist info and general info were so friendly and helpful!
Edit: I am an android user so Apple wallet is not an option. Happy to have the physical cards as souveniers!

Yep, that tracks. You can use a credit card for the initial Welcome Suica purchase at Haneda, but refills are cash only at most machines.
Good call grabbing them at the airport too. Saves time once you’re in the city.
For anyone reading: pull out some yen early if you plan to top up later. Makes life way easier.
I have a suica card in my Apple wallet and refilling was super easy using Apple Pay. Our whole family use IC this way
As a fellow android user, thank you for your experience!
I did the same thing a few weeks back, super easy. But reloading had to be done with cash. Cash is king in japan.
Was “stuck” at a train station trying to find an internation atm one day to get more cash cause I ran out and my welcome suica was low. Less than ideal situation so always have at least 1000 yen on you to reload your welcome suica card.
You must have arrived at terminal 3. At terminal 2 when I arrived there was no welcome suica inside the terminal
When I went in 2023, I noticed that the line for welcome suica all seemed to have issues trying to buy welcome suica with their bank cards (not sure what type) luckly i had enough cash before landing to purchase two of them.
