I’m really confused about Rakuten Card’s billing and hoping someone can help me understand what’s going on.
Card info
• Credit limit: 1,000,000 JPY / month
• Payment method: full payment (no installments, no revolving)
Monthly usage & payments
November 2025
• Auto-debited from my bank on Nov 27
• November should be fully settled
December 2025
• App shows December usage: 365,255 JPY
• On Dec 19, I made an early payment (前払い)
• Rakuten app told me to pay 818,998 JPY
• This amount is much higher than December usage
• I paid the full 818,998 JPY
January 2026
• Despite the prepaid amount, Rakuten still auto-debited money in January
• App continues to show charges as if the prepaid amount wasn’t reèlected
As of today (February 18)
• App still shows the amount used in January as upcoming payment
My confusion
• November was already paid
• December usage was only 365,255 JPY
• I prepaid 818,998 JPY in December
• Yet January and February still show charges
Questions
1. Does Rakuten show monthly usage without reflecting overpayment (過払い) until billing is finalized?
2. Will the prepaid amount be automatically deducted later after 支払金額確定?
3. Or is this a real double-charge issue that I need to contact Rakuten support for?
Right now it looks like the app is counting usage normally while ignoring the prepaid balance, which makes it extremely confusing.
If anyone has experience with Rakuten Card prepayments, I’d really appreciate your insight 🙏
