I'm using the "H&R Block Expat Taxes DIY" site for the first time to file my US taxes. I'm trying to figure out how to put my info from my Gensen-Choshu-Hyo into it correctly.
I have a couple questions:
-
For "Total Gross Salary (Before all Deductions and Taxes)" I should copy the number from the ⽀払⾦額 box, correct?
-
For "Do you have a pension plan through this employer?" I chose Yes since I pay into pension which is deducted by my employer, but then it displays the message:
"The IRS requires company pension plans that are not social security, social insurance or another similar benefit from a foreign government to be disclosed. These are normally supplemental plans, which are not run and managed by government-owned agencies but by private financial institutions. Still unsure if you have one? Normally these supplemental pensions have a cash value. Therefore you should receive annual statements to inform you how much was contributed to your pension along with the total worth of your pension. With the above in mind, do you have this type supplemental pension plan through this employer Yes / No"
Do I select 'No' here and not fill in anything more about pension? I've honestly never signed up for NenkinNet and don't know the total I've paid overall. (Does the IRS not need to know anything about how much I paid into Japanese social insurance, pension, employment/health insurance, residence tax, etc.? I let a tax preparer file my taxes last year and don't see anything about this on it…)

For "Was this income subject to taxes outside of the US?" I selected Yes, and then it asks me to fill in "Total foreign tax paid on this income (in JPY)". Is this the 源泉徴収税額 box?
Thanks so much for helping.
