The NYT had an [analysis](https://www.nytimes.com/2026/02/22/upshot/winter-olympics-leaders-nations.html) that wrote that Japan did well on “Events With a Judge”, ranking first in events such as halfpipe snowboarding or figure skating. But there was an NHK TV news that said that it’s not very rosy in the future, as some young children do not take up some winter sports like they used to.
