Hey everyone,
I'm trying to help an older female colleague of mine. Sadly her grandfather passed away in Japan during the Second World War. She's trying to find the exact location of where he stayed and/or passed away. I've come here for your help, hoping for some guidance.
The following information my colleague shared with me:
• Her grandfather was a Lieutenant of the Royal Dutch Navy.
• He was held as a prisoner of war at the Osaka No. 5 Dispatched Camp (Kawasaki Jūkō, Kobe).
• He passed away there in April 1943, as far as she knows in the Ichioka Ward.
She would be most grateful if anyone knows if there are any existing remains or memorials of the Osaka No. 5 Dispatched Camp still, and if so, where exactly they are located. Any historical information, maps, or guidance would be deeply appreciated.
Thank you in advance for any information you might share.
