The good news is I started a new part time job a while ago and it’s going well. The bad news is one of the things I like about my new office is my desk and very comfy office chair, and when I am trying to get things done at home I now really, really notice that the 4000 yen chair I bought in Olympic is what we would deem in economics an inferior good. I did a little window shop around Nitori earlier and also couldn’t find anything that looked a huge amount better. The 4000 yen chair was preceded by one closer to 1man from Nitori which looked fine, except I hated sitting in it for some reason and proceeded to write my reports from my kotatsu – I think the issue was partly the seat being too deep and really low relative to my desk. I then looked up the model I have at work (Uchida Carissa 2 apparently) and its cheapest version is over 5man yen, so yeah that might explain why it is so nice but alas that’s also well out of my budget.
I was wondering if anyone knows of stores around Tokyo where you can pick up decent quality office furniture stuff secondhand or otherwise reduced (like last year’s model on clearance or something like that), or the best option to look online (I imagine it’s hard to tell if something will be good without sitting in it though)? In the next year I’m likely to be studying again and I probably cannot spend the amount of hours required to write a thesis from my kotatsu, wonderful as it is. Any semi-affordable recommendations would be appreciated!
For context I’m 165 cm tall and don’t have any back problems to speak of, and the big chairs with headrests and stuff in Nitori look massive and like they wouldn’t work very well hence why I was thinking of more standard office looking ones.
