My wife and I recently moved to Okinawa (non-military family) and I have been researching ISPs on the island. I've seen the common options (AU, GLBB, Vinet, etc.), and I'm okay with prices, but my main question is about installation timing. Each company quotes at least 3 weeks (if not months) for the installation process to be completed. Is this really the case?
Also, I read about service lag in the evenings due to peak usage across the island. How bad is the lag? We mostly just stream video and mobile game, so I was planning on getting a standard 1Gbps plan.
I'd love to hear everyone's own experience with setting up their ISP/WiFi, which provider you opted for, and any other helpful tips and tricks you have to add.
