Has anyone been denied a business renewal recently after the new requirements?

I keep hearing from Japanese friends as well as other foreigners about this issue that will affect lots of small to mid sized businesses. I wonder if the culling has begun. I'm on this visa just started first year I was in the red. This year I'm doing better but still need about a year before I reach stability.
