I’ve just met this girl at my college in Kansas who is on an exchange program from a college in Osaka. We went out together and absolutely hit it off. Her English is sparse but there is something between us that surpasses language. I’m wondering from other’s perspectives what life is like for a younger person in Osaka. We are both 19. The youth I know here are typically driven and motivated- as well as promiscuous and casual with relationships. I know not everyone is the same- but I guess I’m particularly curious about dating standards in Osaka or Japan as a whole. Do most people date to marry? Or is promiscuity just as common in Japan as it is in the U.S.? Are drugs and alcohol as popular with teenagers as they are here? I hope I can hear from a younger person’s POV.
