Easiest Way to Stay a Few Days Past Working Holiday Expiration Date

Hi, I’m probably going to ask an immigration officer eventually too but I thought it would be a good idea to ask here as well: what is the easiest and cheapest way to stay a few days longer than the expiration date of my working holiday visa? I got a front-row ticket to a big concert and it’s a few days after my visa ends in June but I don’t want to pay for a flight out and back into Japan just to get the tourist status (though I hear sometimes people get lucky and don’t have to do that).

My current plan is to apply to change my visa status just before my visa expires so I can use the loophole of getting an auto-extension to my current visa. But I’m not sure which I should apply to, and if this would get me flagged in their system and make it harder to apply for visas in the future. I do intend to do a second working holiday visa if I have to because my country has that agreement with Japan.

Actually this is all hypothetical, since I’m job-hunting right now too, hoping to get a work visa, but I’d like to know my options in case I can’t find a job by the time my visa expires.

Thank you!!
