Is there anyone flying from Tokyo—or any airport in Japan—to Europe with a layover in Doha in the first two weeks of April? If so, what are your plans?
Our flights are on April 6th from Tokyo to Barcelona, with a layover in Doha. Is anyone on the same flight? If yes, I’d love to hear your thoughts.
For us, we’re waiting. We don’t want to overwhelm chats or phones since our flight is still a month away, and we know some people are in more urgent situations 😞. At the same time, we’re checking the news daily, and the situation doesn’t look good…
Cancelling before the airline cancels is tricky because we would lose the money. How are others handling similar situations?
I’m also looking at other flights within the EU, which feel safer. But I see two options:
- Book now – secure seats to return, but if everything normalizes and we can fly via Doha, we might end up cancelling the less favorable flight.
- Wait until the last minute – hope Qatar cancels, then try to book new flights within 2–7 days.
I want to share that this is not a vacation. We are leaving Japan for good—our house is already cancelled, most of our belongings are sold, and our hotel is booked only until April 6th. So unfortunately, postponing is not an option.
Any advice or experiences from people in a similar situation would be greatly appreciated.
