Hi everyone, my brother (19M) and I (21M) are travelling to Japan in May, and I wanted opinions on our itinerary, how doable it is, as well as if it's missing anything worth visiting that I overlooked.
Day 1: Arrive at Haneda in the afternoon
Check into our hotel in Shibuya, dinner nearby, take it easy. Maybe take a stroll around Shibuya Crossing.
Day 2: Shibuya+Shinjuku
Start at Meiji Jingu Shrine –> Omotosando –> Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden –> Shibuya Crossing and shopping –> Shibuya Sky at sunset if I can get tickets
Day 3: Kamakura+Enoshima day trip (with a short stop in Fujisawa before heading back to Shibuya, not sure how realistic this is)
Take the Shonan Shinjuku line from Shibuya to Kamakura early. Surugaoka Hachimangu shrine –> Komachi Dori street –> Kotoku-in –> Hasadera –> Enoden to a quick stop at Shichirigahama beach for pictures –> Enoden to Benzaiten Shopping street –> Hetsumiya shrine –> Samuel Cocking garden + sea candle –> Enoden to Fujisawa to go to an anime pop-up shop at the Don Quijote –> Take the Shonan Shinjuku line back to Shibuya from Fujisawa.
Day 4: Asakusa+Ueno
Start early at Senso-Ji temple, visit Kaminari-mon and Nakamise-dori –> Kappabashi –> Tokyo National Museum –> Ueno Park –> Ameyoko market
Day 5: Kanda(?)+Akihabara+Tokyo station
Honestly wasn't sure what to do on the morning of this day, as the only thing I knew I wanted to see was Akihabara. Heard Kanda was a more low-key neighborhood with nice cafes, so I included it in the itinerary, but I'm flexible to going to anything I may have missed in the neighborhoods I already went to or any other neighborhoods with more to do.
Start at Kanda Myojin shrine, then explore around, go to a cafe –> Akihabara in the late morning/early afternoon –> Explore Tokyo station, visit character street, other shops –> Dinner in the Tokyo station/Marunouchi area
Day 6: Travel to Kyoto+Fushimi Inari
Take a morning Shinkansen to Kyoto, drop off bags at the hotel, hoping to do this by around 11-12 by leaving Tokyo early. After dropping bags off, head to Fushimi Inari, walk the torii gates, then have a late lunch in its vicinity –> Walk along Kamo River –> Dinner in Nishiki Market area –> Check in at the hotel near Kyoto Station
Day 7: Toji Temple+Nintendo Museum/Uji
Start the morning with a visit to Toji Temple, maybe explore/shop in Kyoto Station if time permits –> Nintendo Museum in Uji –> Byodoin Temple –> Uji River stroll/tea house for matcha and sweets–> Dinner in the vicinity –> Head back to hotel near Kyoto station
Day 8: Kiyomizu-dera+Higashiyama District
Start early at Kiyomizu-dera –> Stroll Ninenzaka/Sannenzaka streets –> Kodaiji Temple –> Yasaka Shrine –> Hanami-Koji street+lunch –> Maruyama Park –> Snack/tea break –> Dinner in Pontocho Alley
Day 9: Travel to Osaka+light sightseeing
Leave Kyoto early, planning to drop bags off at the hotel around 10. From the hotel head to Kuromon Ichiba Market for snacks/lunch –> Denden town –> Shinsekai in the evening, maybe dinner in Shinsekai, might instead find somewhere near the hotel
Day 10: Osaka Castle+Dotonbori
Start the day off in Osaka Castle Park, explore the grounds, take pictures, maybe go inside if time permits –> Dotonbori –> Maybe backtrack to somewhere we didn't get to explore as much as we wanted to the previous day, if not, stay in Dotonbori and eat dinner
Day 11: Depart from Osaka Itami Airport at Noon, connect in Tokyo for the flight back home
