Why does Japan sexualize “cuteness”?

Cuteness, childishness and immaturity are not supposed to arouse sexual feelings or thoughts. Only beauty and maturity should.

I find it quite disturbing that the culture of kawaii mixes sexuality with cuteness while treating beauty and maturity as intimidating. Adults should not be so pretentious in their behavior or attempt to look as childlike as possible.

Why are sexually attractive women the ones who look and act like five-year-olds children?

It might be that Japan adopted kawaii culture as a marketing technique to symbolize innocence. However, when adults adopt this culture, it often appears as hypocrisy and pretentiousness rather than innocence, because they are adopting something that might not reflect their true selves. Adult are not five year olds.
