We recently bought a house in central Tokyo and are looking for carport options. our house has 2 spots but we want to do a one side carport (no second car yet. second one won't need as much love as the current one so all good)

I was told by some people that this might be bad during typhoons though.
Can anyone speak from experience about these sorta carports? I'd like to hear some direct reviews rather than the "probably xxx/i heard xxx" i've gathered so far
