Hi everyone,
I’m travelling to Japan for the first time with a few friends from June 19th – July 11th, and I’m looking for some advice on the weather and if our itinerary makes sense.
The main reason I want to go during the summer is that I’ve always been fixated on hiking up Mt Fuji, and I know the trails open at the start of July. My plan is to do Fuji toward the end of the trip so the trails are open.
So far the places we’re thinking about visiting are:
– Tokyo
– Kyoto
– Osaka
– Hiroshima
– Okinawa (if we have time / depending on weather)
– Mt Fuji
I’m aware that because I’m travelling in the summer, we need to expect a lot of rain and heat. I’m also aware that if I go to Okinawa I’ll likely have to backtrack on my route to Osaka as the flights from Hiroshima are less frequent. For people who’ve travelled to Japan around late June / early July:
-
What should we realistically expect weather-wise?
-
Does this itinerary seem like too much for ~3 weeks?
-
Is Okinawa worth adding? If not, where else should I consider?
-
Any tips for climbing Fuji at the start of the season?
Appreciate any advice!
