Kyoto, Kobe or somewhere in the japenese alps?

Hi, i‘m asking you where to go after Kanazawa before going to Atami in the Izu Peninsula.

We‘re leaving Kanazawa on May 30th (in the morning) and going to Atami on June 1st (Noon). We do not want to travel more than 2.5 hours on both days, so that leaves only the option of Kyoto, Osaka, Kobe, Nagano or Matsumoto.

It would be our first time in Japan, and we don‘t have specific interests, but a city with lots to do in the city but not a city where you have to drive min. 40 minutes to see cool stuff.

I‘m not sure of going to Kyoto, Osaka or Kobe due to the fact that it‘s rain season and we do not want to „waste“ that 2 days we got with rain.
