What was the most pointless meeting you experienced in a Japanese company?

Hi everyone,

In my last post about confusing workplace rules in Japan, a lot of people mentioned meetings.

Things like:
• Meetings where nobody asks questions even when the presenter asks for them
• Meetings where everyone agrees during the meeting but the decision somehow changes later
• Meetings where it feels like the decision was already made before the meeting started
• Meetings that seem to exist just because meetings are expected

For people who didn't grow up in Japan, this can be really confusing.

Sometimes it feels like the meeting is more about confirming hierarchy or process than actually solving a problem.

So I'm curious:

What was the most pointless or confusing meeting you've experienced in a Japanese workplace?

Was there a moment where you thought:

"Why are we even having this meeting?"
