My Japanese wife has been reading about latest news on the Iran war every minute of every day and will 平気 talk about a documentary she watched about how the war in Gaza is just an opportunity for Amazon and tech companies to develop and sell weapons to Israel and US, and test chemical and other screwed up weapons in front of our 8 year old.
I brought up how the right leaning media on Fox News isn’t even giving a concrete answer to why the war in Iran is happening, to go along with her interest in seeing all the corruption and invalidity with this war (the point being this war is obviously so pointless for any real reason not even the supposed supporters you would see on Fox News are giving a straight answer). I am trying to support her. Then she gives a long convoluted response where she ends by saying literally she thinks 9/11 was an inside job. I am taken aback but don’t fight her back on it (she gets really heated and emotional when her views are slightly challenged)
She is asking me to look up English speaking media sites every moment and say “Netanyahu’s dead now, right?” And is going off some random Indian twitter posters fake news, or the latest gossip about some video being fake AI. She is getting lost into the world of conspiracy theories I feel like.
I bring this up in Japan life because as an American she will sometimes attack me as if it’s my fault personally for the war the us president is waging.
Does anyone have similar challenges with their international marriages?
