My company is cutting the staff numbers significantly due to economic downturn.
No one will know for about 2 more weeks who is being let go, but it could be anyone. I've already started looking for other opportunities, but haven't found much yet.
If you lose your job due to budget cuts rather than being fired outright, is there any help from the government while you job hunt? Similar to unemployment insurance in the US. Returning to my home country is our last resort, we really would rather stay here.
I'm in Tokyo if that matters.
