I am trying to figure out how best to book this trip to get everything out of it that I want but still allow flexibility based on visibility. My husband and I will be staying in Tokyo, but I want to see Mt. Fuji as well as some of the shrines. I would also like to ride the Hakone Ropeway, the pirate ship, taste the volcanic eggs, and potentially go to the 5th station. When I was looking at some of the group tours the more recommended ones were around $150 per person and some of the customizable private tours were ~$350 total.
I am overwhelmed by all of the choices. I guess my first question is are all those activities I listed worth it? Second is if I book a trip with a free cancellation would that be the way to go to hopefully rebook if needed for a clear viewing day of Mt. Fuji? Is that even possible with a private tours? Is a private tour actually customizable? I’ve seen several with two Itineraries but I am not sure if if is only customizable because you pick one or the other or if I can actually say I want to go here here and here, and take suggestions on the rest. We don’t mind getting up very early or even taking a group tour if it can get everything we want.
We don’t care about “Instagramable” photo spots.
Any suggestions?
