I am not sure which sub I am supposed to post this in, but I am in a bit of a quandary. So here is the thing, I am gay and I have a Japanese partner, and we have been together for about a year now. Obviously we cant marry, so he suggested adopting me so that I could take his family name. It wont be that strange since he is 54 and i am 32 (he is old enough to be my dad). I know adult adoptions in Japan are not uncommon but it is mostly among Japanese people. I was wondering if its possible for us. And if it is possible what would my visa be?
If it is not possible, then what are our other options?
Ps. I am not from a country that has legalized same sex marriage.
Also if it matters, I live in Hyogo.
