experience in designated activities visas for married same-sex partner?

Curious if anyone has experience applying for/receiving the designated activities visa as the married same-sex partner of a Japanese citizen. My partner and I plan on marrying soon and want to move to Japan at some point and I'd love to hear about what it was like. For what it's worth, as well as being a citizen she has some family there and employment opportunities, although I'm not sure if that matters at all.
