Spent three weeks recently trying to find a decent bilingual tax accountant and the experience was genuinely awful. Outdated websites, dead phone numbers, firms that claim to be bilingual but clearly aren't, and no way to know if anyone else has actually used them.
Found myself going through two-year-old threads on here.
Made me realise I have no idea who to call if I ever need a lawyer, a decent English-speaking doctor, or help with my lease. And I've been here long enough that I should probably know this stuff.
So — who do you actually trust? People you've personally used, not just names you've seen recommended online.
Is there an actual good place to search for it?
– Tax accountant
– Immigration lawyer
– General / family lawyer
– Real estate agent
– Financial advisor
– English-speaking doctor or clinic
– Insurance broker
City helps too if you can share it. Tokyo recommendations are great but would love to hear about Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka etc. as well.
Bonus points if you can say one sentence about why you'd recommend them — or warn me off anyone who markets themselves as bilingual but isn't.
