I am currently working to create some art based on different perceptions of one's self and wanted to use some Japanese Characters and reference Japanese culture within the art. So…, I am inquiring about how Japanese culture generally tackles the ideas of perception of self within the scope of a contrast between inner perception of one's self and the way others perceive you along with any adoption of Freudian Psychology(as that is my main basis) to Japanese culture in comparison to traditional Japanese psychology. If anyone could provide personal insight on both academic discussion and general symbolism I'd be grateful.
