2020 Batch Stats and 2026 Predictions

Does anyone know how many ALTs were in JET Batch 2020?

Also, do you think the number for Batch 2026 will be similar, based on the outgoing batch?

Thanks a lot! 😊

  1. I have a strong feeling it was 0 as Japan closed it’s borders due to the pandemic for like, a year and a half.

  2. Here are the JET stats for this year.

    Do keep in mind that 2020 was a very strange year as very few JETs made it out due to departure happening after Covid shut down international travel. New JETs didn’t even make it into Japan until a year later (can someone recall when depatures started to resume because I can’t remember).

    These stats also only list the current JETs on the program and don’t reflect how many started JET that year. Unless someone has a copy of previous years stats we won’t have that information.

  3. Can at least say that there were 500 less 1st years than last yes. Additionally, there are currently 700 5th years. Last year, 1,829 first years came onboard. This year, the number was 1,321 people. Take this how you like!

  4. Now that both the Olympics and Osaka Expo are over, and with the unstoppable tide of around 500 schools closing a year due to lack of students, I’d expect the Programme to start to scale back.

  5. Hi everyone! Apllying for JET 2026, have a couple of questions:

    – **Statement of Physician** is optional, looks like? I do not have any issues, and literally the last time I was seen was maybe 3 years ago for a physical exam;

    – TOEFL test I took back in 2015 to get into an American School. My score is 98. And I speak fluently now. As a citizen, should I still attach a copy of the test results?

    Thank you so much! Counting days for the application to open
