eSIM v Carrier Int’l plan?

I’ve read a lot of threads about eSIM reccos. Thx for all the context. We’ll be there for two weeks (Osaka, Kyoto, Hakone, Tokyo). Any reason I wouldn’t just pay an extra $30 and use my carrier (T-Mobile) int’l data plan? It would be 15GB. I intend to use for photos/ directions / Google Translate. I don’t play games. My kids will just use data when on WiFi where we’ll stay and have downloaded content. Thanks in advance.
