I have been offered a 3yoe IT position at a MNC through robert walters, the position is contract and it is a 3 months rolling basis. I cleared the interview, i got 1 years visa.
I have few questions.
- Is 0.35M yen per month enough for a comfortable life in tokyo?
- Is contract jobs risky in Japan?
- Will it be easier for me to switch to a full-time position as a english only speaking person?
- Do i need a new work visa if a switch to some other company?
- Notice period is not clear (does anyone know notice period duration of RW)
- Do i have greater chance of getting selected to a full-time offer, because i'm already in tokyo and have work visa conpared to someone who's not?
- If you were me, would you take the chance?

I cant answer all the questions but I can comment on the following;
1. ¥350,000 clear per month will be enough to live a normal life in most reasonable areas of tokyo – rent will be the biggest expense of course and vary depending on how picky you are – also 1 year lease isn’t as common as two years.
2. The visa will be tied to your contract/employer, so a new job will require a change in your visa. However it isn’t uncommon and will definitely be easier in country, but still not super straight forward.
