Hello, i am 22F and will be moving to Osaka soon and My friend told me Japan has alot of crime which is not shown much so i was little anxious. They also said that Even if you complain to police, the police cant do much bc they’re used to these complaints. She told me i should move in a sharehouse first and move to a apartment after i differentiate between bad and right areas. How can i stay safe in Japan as a solo female student? My family is extremely overprotective of me and now they’re getting worried hearing that from her. They told me not to make Japanese friends and stay with same nationality people etc. I actually wanted to stay in apartment for privacy and i already have Japanese friends, i somehow felt overwhelmed by their protectiveness because yeah there are bad and good people, but i know Japanese well enough to understand from what kind of pov a person is talking. At same time, i understand from their perspective as they care for me. What tips do you have for me?
