A bit of context here, I'm 35, living and working in Japan and in advertising for 15 years. I have a lot of career experience under my belt. I changed from agency world to the production world in 2018-2024 where until I re-pivoted back into corporate agency world where I am now at for the last 2 years. I currently work for a major Japan ad company. I used to make really decent money in my previous roles, but during 2024 as I was going through a job change it was tough getting in the door and I took this opportunity at a very low salary adjustment. Let's just say I make around the same as an AEON english teacher or restauarant worker full time. This is kind of on my but I needed a job and was doing my best to get back into seishain work. That said, my role at the company is far from junior, it's not even mid-level. I am working handling global / cross-border clients across the globe, I create and lead proposals and presentations and also contribute to revenue while also supporting other departments that don't contribute to my own departments sales goals. I do not have an N2 or N1 but I have a bachelors in BBA from University and also a major in Japanese, I speak quite fluently at least on an operational level. It's been 2 years but I haven't gotten one increase and honestly I'm feeling stuck. Does anyone have any ideas for asking for a salary bump? I realize that the most optimal solution is to simply look for a new job, but I actually like my job and don't exactly want to leave my position. Any advice is welcome. Thank you.
